Infants
6 weeks - 12 mos

At Small Wonders, our experienced teachers nurture your child, care for his or her physical needs, maintain a safe environment and involve your baby in a healthy developmental curriculum. Our teachers will interact with your baby individually to understand his or her individual needs and to create a positive bond with each child.

Between the cooing and cuddling, our passionate teachers enjoy guiding your baby into the wonderful world of language and offer endless opportunities for development and discovery. We teach through play and include activities that stimulate your baby’s sense of sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell. Learning experiences are designed to emphasize your child’s development, rather than specific age because all children grow and learn at their own pace, and in their own unique way.

Your baby will thrive in our warm, safe, and stimulating Infant Room and will receive all of the individual love and attention they need! We personalize care for your baby based on his or her unique schedule, nutritional guidelines, and any other special attention he/she requires. We welcome parents to stop in at any time, including breastfeeding mothers who wish to breastfeed their baby during the day. There is also a refrigerator in the infant classroom to store breast milk.

Choosing a childcare center is one of the most difficult decisions a parent can make. We understand your concerns and we want to make sure you leave our center each day knowing that your baby is happy, healthy, and safe.

Pre-Toddler
12 mos - 24 mos

The second year of life is so full of wonder and curiosity, and we know that pre-toddlers can be a bundle of endless energy! We provide a safe environment for exploration, excitement, and exercise. We channel that energy into learning and fun! At this age, your child is growing and learning so much about his or her body and the wonderful world around them. Our loving teachers enjoy getting to know each child and their evolving personalities to ensure a strong bond and to make your child feel safe and comfortable in their environment.

On their level, we teach through play to stimulate and encourage creativity and imagination. We provide many opportunities to explore through play, songs, fingerplays, interactive reading, and sensory activities. We focus on language and cognitive skills development during circle time, which is done in short intervals to captivate their attention. Through play, simple daily interactions, and learning experiences, we will help your child acquire new language and skills. Learning experiences are designed to address the individual needs and abilities of each child because all children grow and learn at their own pace and in their own unique way.

Socially, your child will begin to learn how to properly communicate through language and interact with peers, by taking turns, sharing, and being kind to one another. Your child will enjoy being in the company of other children and this interaction will advance their social and emotional development. Our pre-toddler program is a safe, secure, loving environment for your child to grow and learn, and seeing the transformation from baby to toddler is quite amazing!

Toddler
2 - 3 years

As children open their eyes to the wonderful world around them and take an active role in it, we’re here to guide each one of these little learners! At this age, toddlers will have a language explosion and will understand more than they say. The first few years of a child’s life are key to the development of speech, language, and cognitive skills. Our educated and experienced teachers will address the individual needs and abilities of each child, since all children grow and learn at their own pace, in their own unique way. Through play, simple daily interactions, and learning experiences, we will help your child acquire new language and skills.

In the toddler class, our curriculum consists of many interactive activities and is designed to meet the needs of 24 to 36-month-old children, with a focus on understanding routines and developing independence. Each day we enjoy circle time and focus on the fundamentals: recognizing shapes, colors, and letters, singing the alphabet, and counting numbers 1-10. Monthly themes, daily storytime, music, and art projects will spark their imagination and creativity while giving your child the opportunity to experience subjects that they may not get to encounter from day to day.

Socially, your child will have the opportunity to learn how to properly communicate through language and interact with peers, by taking turns, sharing, and being kind to one another. We will teach and guide your child with the necessary skills to express emotions through words, which helps them understand the feelings they are experiencing. Your child will thrive in our safe, fun, and loving classroom environment and as we enjoy playing with your child their creativity and imagination will grow!

Preschool
3-4 years

Our experienced teachers provide a fun and educational experience within our home-like classroom, where your child will discover how they learn best. Preschool education is an essential step on the path to kindergarten and your preschooler will learn through creative play, constructive centers, daily circle time, hands-on activities, and planned cognitive learning experiences. We offer a balance of freedom and instruction!

Our daily circle time is based around our weekly theme where we introduce and review the letter and number of the week, as well as continuing color, shape, and name recognition. We continue cognitive development in group and individual exercises and will teach your child to recognize and write upper case letters and numbers 1 through 15. We practice the development of fine motor skills through writing with a pencil, safe scissor cutting, and drawing and painting independently.

One of the key goals of our preschool program is to enhance social and emotional development. We strive to teach your child a combination of intellectual skills, motivational qualities, and socioemotional skills, and how to properly use them to succeed in school. In this classroom, children are given an increasing sense of independence, while also learning how to relate to others through large-group activities which are an essential part of the day.

During our creative playtime, we use our imagination with action toys, dress-up clothes, and food center play. We practice sharing, patience, communicating with peers through language, and much more!

We make sure there are plenty of opportunities for discovery, both in and out of the classroom, as well as, a safe, secure, loving environment for your child to grow and learn. Our children are our future, and we want to prepare them for their future with a lifelong love of learning, curiosity, and exploration.

Pre-K
4 - 5 years

Our Pre-K program builds on Preschool learning and strives to advance each child’s skills in essential and core academic areas. The goal of our Pre-K Curriculum is preparation for Kindergarten. The key components of our program include phonetic reading readiness, math skills readiness, developing responsive listening skills, increasing the length of attention span, fine and large motor skills development, social and emotional well-being, and health and wellness.

Pre-K learning experiences continue to be driven by the needs of the children, through our Creative Curriculum. Daily small-group instruction will encourage cognitive development and teach your child to recognize and write upper and lower case letters, as well as, learning how to write his or her first and last name. We work towards combining letters/sounds to read words and, visual recognition and writing of common sight words/high-frequency words through visual flashcard games and writing activities. Throughout the school year, children will build on their abilities to recognize and write numbers 1-100.

Each child gets to spend time with their teacher individually so that we can follow their progress closely and understand their individual needs.

The development of fine motor skills is practiced through writing with a pencil, safe scissor cutting, and drawing and painting independently. Daily outdoor play encourages the development of large motor skills through participation in a variety of movement activities. Our Pre-K Curriculum is rounded out by exposing our students to a wide variety of cultural and artistic experiences.

Your child and his or her classmates will have continuous opportunities to communicate, cooperate, play, and learn with one another. We strive to teach each child a combination of intellectual skills, motivational qualities, and socioemotional skills, and how to properly use them to enhance social and emotional development and to succeed in school. We enjoy helping your child prepare for kindergarten and beyond, with the skills and confidence needed for a lifetime of academic success.
